Our Membership
PIE’s first underwriting group exchanges reciprocal contracts of property insurance providing protection for Business Interruption Loss due to Salmonella Enteritidis (S.e.) and Salmonella Typhimurium (S.T. Dt.-104), Mycoplasma Synoviae (MS), Mycoplasma Gallisepticum (MG) Bacteria, and/or highly pathogenic avian influenza and low pathogenic H5 or H7 strains of avian influenza in Broiler Breeder Birds or Chicks. Currently, membership in this group includes: producers who hold a current Ontario Broiler Hatching Egg and Chick Commission (OBHECC) licence; producers who hold an Alberta Hatching Egg Producers (AHEP) licence, producers who hold a Saskatchewan Broiler Hatching Egg Producers (SBHEP) licence and producers who hold a Manitoba Hatching Egg Producers (MHEP) license. Additionally, protection for Business Interruption Loss due to Reovirus has been added to producers who hold current OBHECC quota.
PIE’s second underwriting group composed of table egg producers began to exchange contracts of property insurance providing protection for Business Interruption Loss due to Salmonella Enteritidis (S.e.) Bacteria, and highly pathogenic avian influenza and low pathogenic H5 or H7 strains of avian influenza in breeder pullets, breeder layers, commercial pullets and commercial egg layers. Membership is limited to those entities and producers recognized by Egg Farmers of Ontario (EFO) as part of the regulated egg supply chain.
PIE’s third underwriting group composed of Chicken Farmers of Ontario exchanges reciprocal contracts of property insurance providing protection for Business Interruption Loss due to highly pathogenic avian influenza and low pathogenic H5 or H7 strains of avian influenza. Membership is limited to those entities and producers recognized by Chicken Farmers of Ontario (CFO).
PIE’s fourth underwriting group composed of Turkey Farmers of Ontario exchanges reciprocal contracts of property insurance providing protection for Business Interruption Loss due to highly pathogenic avian influenza and low pathogenic H5 or H7 strains of avian influenza. Membership is limited to those entities and producers recognized by Turkey Farmers of Ontario (TFO).
